The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has joined Nigerians in marking this year’s Democracy Day, commending President Bola Tinubu for what it described as bold efforts to strengthen democratic governance and promote national development.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the Abia APC said Democracy Day remains a significant reminder of Nigeria’s democratic journey and the sacrifices that shaped it.

The party described the occasion as a historic milestone that celebrates the triumph of the people’s will, the resilience of democratic institutions, and the contributions of democratic heroes.

It also praised the policy direction of the Tinubu administration, noting that ongoing reforms are aimed at addressing long-standing structural challenges in the country.

According to the statement, the administration has shown courage and determination in implementing critical reforms necessary for national progress.

“While these reforms may demand temporary sacrifices, they are necessary steps towards building a stronger economy, attracting investments, creating jobs, stabilising public finances, and securing a better future for generations yet unborn,” the party said.

The Abia APC added that President Tinubu’s leadership has helped restore public confidence in the country’s democratic direction, describing his approach as bold and transformative.

“President Tinubu’s bold leadership has rekindled hope in the possibility of a Nigeria that works for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation,” the statement noted.

The party further urged citizens to support government policies, stressing that democracy is strengthened through active participation and collective responsibility.

It called on residents of Abia State to remain committed to national unity, peace, and development while backing the federal government’s reform agenda.

Reaffirming its position, the APC said it remains committed to promoting good governance, transparency, accountability, and improved welfare for citizens, adding that it will continue working to ensure the benefits of democracy reach communities across Abia State and the country at large.
