Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed reports circulating about alleged school kidnappings in parts of Osun State, assuring residents that there is no evidence to support the claims.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, and published on the official website of the Osun State Government on Tuesday, the governor said security assessments carried out across border communities and other areas showed no record of any such incident.
Adeleke urged residents to disregard the reports and continue their daily activities without fear, stressing that his administration has put in place measures to secure schools and public institutions across the state.
“I task our people to go about their normal activities without fear. Our government has taken steps to secure our schools. The Ministry of Education and the relevant security agencies have worked out a security strategy that is being implemented,” he said.
The governor also appealed to parents and guardians not to panic, describing the reports as false and misleading.
He further disclosed that Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) inherited by his administration had been refurbished and are now ready for deployment to strengthen security operations.
“My government has rehabilitated them and the public will soon witness a new security plan to strengthen the security of lives and properties in Osun State,” he added.
Adeleke noted that security agencies, alongside local intelligence networks, continue to monitor vulnerable border communities and other high-risk areas to prevent any security breaches.
