The 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Ohafia, Abia State, and the 15 Brigade in Awka, Anambra State, have agreed to deepen operational cooperation in response to security challenges affecting the two states.

The renewed collaboration followed a courtesy visit by the Commander of 15 Brigade, Awka, Brigadier General S. Ahmadu, to the Commander of 14 Brigade, Ohafia, Brigadier General A.M. Dikko, at the 14 Brigade Headquarters in Ohafia on Thursday.

The engagement formed part of efforts to strengthen cooperation among formations operating under the 82 Division Area of Responsibility.

During the visit, Ahmadu said the meeting was intended to consolidate the existing relationship between the two brigades and identify areas where they could work more closely.

He highlighted joint operations, intelligence sharing and effective management of the border between Abia and Anambra as key areas requiring greater cooperation.

The 15 Brigade commander also commended the 14 Brigade for its continued efforts to address security threats in the South-East.

Responding, Dikko described the visit as timely and strategic, stressing the importance of cooperation between neighbouring military formations.

He said sustained coordination would be necessary to tackle criminal elements and build on security gains already recorded in the region.

Dikko also reaffirmed his commitment to the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, particularly in developing a professional and combat-ready Nigerian Army.
