Francis Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State, has suspended the state Commissioner for Works, Stanley Mbam, and the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development for Concession, Mr. Obasi, over alleged dereliction of duties.
The suspensions were announced in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Monday Uzor, and made available to journalists on Saturday.
According to the statement, the affected officials have been directed to immediately hand over all government property in their possession, including official vehicles, to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
“This directive is with immediate effect,” the statement read.
The development comes amid public outcry in some quarters over the poor and delayed delivery of various projects across the state, a situation believed to have prompted the governor’s action.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that concerns have been raised by stakeholders regarding the pace of infrastructure development in parts of the state.
