FUTO at 38: DVC Oguzie Congratulates Graduates, Applauds University’s Impact on National Development

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Development and Innovation) of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and Centre Leader of the Africa Centre of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems (ACE-FUELS), Prof. Emeka E. Oguzie, has congratulated the institution’s graduating students as the university marks its 38th Convocation Ceremony.

Prof. Oguzie described the occasion as a celebration of academic excellence, innovation, and service to the nation, noting that FUTO has continued to distinguish itself as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions in science, technology, engineering, and innovation.

Speaking ahead of the convocation, he said the university has consistently produced graduates who have gone on to make significant contributions across various sectors of the economy.

According to him, FUTO’s achievements over the years are reflected in its dedication to quality teaching, impactful research, technological advancement, and the development of practical solutions to national and global challenges.

“FUTO has established itself as a leading institution in science, technology, and innovation. Through our dedication to academic excellence and impactful research, we have produced highly skilled graduates and generated solutions that continue to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s industrial, technological, and socio-economic development,” he said.

Prof. Oguzie commended the graduating class, describing them as a generation of students who demonstrated remarkable determination and adaptability despite the changing demands of education and society.

He noted that the graduates distinguished themselves through resilience, digital proficiency, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking, qualities he said would position them for success in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven world.

“This graduating class has shown remarkable resilience and adaptability. They have embraced innovation, developed strong digital skills, and cultivated an entrepreneurial mindset that positions them not only as job seekers but also as job creators, innovators, and solution providers,” he stated.

The deputy vice-chancellor urged the graduates to uphold the values of integrity, diligence, excellence, and service as they move into the next phase of their lives.

He reminded them that the education and skills acquired at FUTO come with the responsibility of contributing positively to society and driving meaningful change.

Prof. Oguzie also encouraged the graduates to remain proud ambassadors of the university and to use their knowledge to create opportunities, foster innovation, and contribute to national development.

“As you leave the University, remember that you carry the torch of FUTO’s legacy of excellence. The nation looks up to you to provide solutions, advance technology, and contribute to the progress of our society. We are proud of your achievements and confident in your capacity to make a positive impact wherever you find yourselves,” he added.

He further expressed appreciation to members of staff, parents, guardians, alumni, and other stakeholders whose support has continued to strengthen the university’s pursuit of academic excellence.

The 38th Convocation Ceremony marks another important milestone in FUTO’s history as the institution continues its mission of producing graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and character needed to contribute to Nigeria’s development and compete effectively on the global stage.
