Investing in Abia's Youth is Investing in Our Future - Interview with His Excellency Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE

In an exclusive conversation with Abia Watch, Hon. Ikechukwu Emetu, Deputy Governor of Abia State, spoke about youth empowerment, community development, and his vision for a stronger Abia.

Abia Watch: Thank you for speaking with us today. Can you tell us about your focus on youth development in Abia?

Hon. Ikechukwu Emetu: Thank you. The youth are the backbone of our state and the future of Abia. My office has prioritized programs that equip young people with skills, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive. We believe that investing in education, technology, and entrepreneurship for our youth will yield long-term benefits for the state.

Abia Watch: What challenges do you see in achieving these goals?

Hon. Ikechukwu Emetu: One of the main challenges is access to resources and infrastructure. Many young people have talent and ambition, but they need proper platforms, training facilities, and support to reach their potential. That’s why we are collaborating with government agencies, private sector partners, and community groups to build these structures.

Abia Watch: How can young people in Abia get involved or benefit from these initiatives?

Hon. Ikechukwu Emetu: We encourage youths to participate actively in available programs, engage in community projects, and seek mentorship opportunities. Our doors are always open for dialogue. We want to create an environment where ambition meets opportunity.

Abia Watch: Finally, what is your vision for Abia State over the next five years?

Hon. Ikechukwu Emetu: I envision a state where every young person has access to education, skills, and platforms to succeed. A state where communities thrive through innovation, collaboration, and ethical leadership. Ultimately, we want Abia to be recognized not just for its rich culture and resources but also for its empowered, resilient citizens.

Abia Watch: Thank you, Hon. Emetu, for sharing your insights.

Hon. Ikechukwu Emetu: Thank you for the platform to speak to our people. Together, we can build a stronger Abia.
