My wife was in labour while I was fighting’ – Portable welcomes baby boy

Nigerian singer Habeeb Badmus, widely known as Portable, has welcomed a baby boy with his wife, Omobewaji Ewatomi, following his defeat in a celebrity boxing match against skit maker Carter Efe.

The artiste shared the news on his Instagram page on Saturday, only hours after losing the “Chaos in the Ring 4” boxing event held at Balmoral Hall in Lagos.

Portable was defeated by unanimous decision in the highly publicised bout, but the singer said the arrival of his son meant more to him than winning a championship belt.

“My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt, but not my child,” he wrote.

The singer also questioned the outcome of the fight, alleging that the contest was unfairly judged.

“You can only buy a belt with money, but a child cannot be bought. You people cheated. I thought I was going to dance with my belt, but I ended up with my new baby,” he said.

Portable further revealed that his wife went into labour while he was in the ring competing.

“While my wife was in labour, I was fighting. She gave birth to a boy. I wanted a third belt for my children; I already have two. You can have the belt,” he added.

His wife, Omobewaji, also confirmed the birth on social media, expressing gratitude with the phrase “Alhamdullillah.”

She shared posts indicating that the newborn has been named Jamal Iremide and described him as “my little blessing.”

The latest addition further expands Portable’s growing family. The controversial singer has previously spoken publicly about having children from different relationships and his desire to marry more wives in the future.
