Surpassing a 21-Year Record
Faddothegreat’s performance eclipsed the previous record set by UK magician Richard Smith, whose show lasted 30 hours and 45 minutes from August 7 to 8, 2004, at the Liverpool Moat House.
During his attempt, Smith performed 331 different tricks and completed a continuous stretch of 11 hours and 20 minutes without repeating a trick.
The Lagos Marathon of Magic
Faddothegreat’s record attempt was staged at Pop Landmark, Victoria Island, Lagos, under strict Guinness supervision and continuous witness monitoring.
Over the course of 50 uninterrupted hours, he delivered illusions, mind-reading acts, and stage routines in what he described as a celebration of creativity and African excellence.
“It all started with just cards, years of practice, failure and growth. Now it has turned into something bigger,” he said, adding that he hopes to change misconceptions about magic in Nigeria and across Africa.
“We’ve conquered food, music, dance, fashion, art — and it’s time for Nigerian magic to shine.”
Official Confirmation
Following the attempt, Guinness World Records confirmed his achievement on its website, noting that applicants for the record must be at least 16 years old.
“The longest magic show by an individual is 50 hours, and was achieved by Ibitoye Kingfahd a.k.a. Faddothegreat (Nigeria), in Lagos, Nigeria, between 27 and 29 November 2025,” the organisation stated.
Guinness further highlighted that the magician undertook the challenge to confront widespread misconceptions about magic in Nigeria and across Africa, aiming to inspire a broader appreciation for the art form.
Celebration
Taking to his Instagram page, Faddothegreat shared moments from his record-breaking performance and celebrated becoming an official Guinness World Record holder, marking a milestone for Nigerian magic on the global stage.
