The board commenced registration on January 26.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB urged prospective candidates to register promptly, warning that appeals for extension would not be entertained.
Over 1.5 Million Registered
JAMB disclosed that as of February 17, more than 1.5 million candidates had successfully registered for the 2026 UTME.
The board noted that although it has the capacity to register up to 100,000 candidates daily, accredited centres are currently operating at barely 30 percent of that capacity.
It attributed the slowdown to candidates delaying registration until the final days of the exercise.
No Extension of Deadline
According to the board, the sale of e-PINs — required before proceeding to accredited centres for biometric registration — will end at midnight on February 26.
Actual registration for candidates who have obtained their e-PINs will close on February 28.
“JAMB operates within a nationally coordinated examination calendar agreed upon by all examination bodies in Nigeria,” the statement read.
“The Board’s registration window is strategically scheduled to allow other examination bodies to conduct their own exercises immediately afterward. Consequently, there is no available window for any extension.”
The board advised candidates to obtain their e-PINs before the vending deadline and complete registration early to avoid last-minute challenges.
Compliance Measures
Last month, JAMB directed candidates to disclose their matriculation status during registration, warning that false declarations would automatically invalidate their registration or previous admission.
The board also revealed that it has inspected 848 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres ahead of the examination.
