In a letter dated February 21, 2026, the group warned that the regulations permit broad surveillance powers without sufficient judicial oversight.
SERAP raised concerns that the framework could threaten privacy rights and be misused ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The call follows allegations by former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai that the phone conversation of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu was intercepted.
SERAP warned it would pursue legal action if the regulations are not reviewed within seven days.
