Tinubu: We Inherited Challenges to Solve, Not Problems to Ignore

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing inherited challenges rather than abandoning them, stressing that governance is about finding solutions to problems.

The President made the remark on Thursday during the commissioning of the newly completed Airport Expressway to Kuje road as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.

Represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu described the project as a demonstration of his government's resolve to fulfill promises made to Nigerians.

According to him, the inauguration of the road goes beyond the completion of an infrastructure project and reflects the administration’s determination to deliver on its commitments.

“Today, we are not just commissioning a road; we are fulfilling a promise. Three years ago, we took an oath to serve the people and pledged to put an end to the era of abandoned projects. Today, FCT Highway 105 stands as evidence that we honour our commitments,” he said.

The President emphasized that his government was not elected to neglect inherited problems but to confront and resolve them.

“Let me be very clear: this administration does not inherit problems to abandon them. We inherit challenges to solve them,” he stated.

Reflecting on the road project, Tinubu recalled that the contract was awarded in 2022 but witnessed minimal progress before his administration intervened.

He noted that the road had become a source of frustration for residents and businesses due to persistent traffic congestion, excessive dust during the dry season, and muddy conditions whenever it rained.

The President also explained that his decision to appoint Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory was driven by his confidence in Wike’s ability to deliver results.

“When I appointed Wike as FCT Minister, it was because he has a track record of getting things done. Despite the delays and challenges, he demonstrated the political will to move the project forward. Where there were obstacles, we paid compensation, respected the law, and remained focused on progress,” Tinubu added.
