In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Acting Director of Information and University Relations, Dr. Habib Yakoob, the institution identified the student as Sadiya Usman, a 100-level student in the Department of Accounting.
According to the statement, Usman was reported missing after she left her residence at Kontagora Estate, Gwagwalada, Abuja, at about 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2026. She was said to be heading to the university’s Main Campus to write her GST 111 computer-based test examination and has not been seen since.
A report submitted by her guardian indicated that all attempts to reach her have been unsuccessful, as her phone line remains unreachable and her whereabouts are unknown.
The university disclosed that it has activated its internal safety protocols and is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure all necessary steps are taken to locate the student promptly and safely.
Expressing concern over her safety, the institution said the university community is deeply worried and appealed to members of the public to provide any timely information that could assist in securing her safe return.
Anyone with useful information has been urged to contact the nearest police station or report directly to the Directorate of Safety of the university.
The institution reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and security of its students and assured that updates would be provided as they become available.
