Stakeholders from Abia North, under the aegis of the Alliance for Good Governance, have reaffirmed their support for Abia State Governor Alex Otti and called for concerted efforts to sustain what they described as his administration’s good governance beyond 2031.

The stakeholders made their position known during a meeting held at the Isieke Civic Centre in Ugwueke, Bende Local Government Area, where prominent sons and daughters of Abia North reviewed the direction of governance in the state.

Presenting the communique issued at the end of the meeting, the group’s Secretary and spokesperson, Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa, a former Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, said the gathering was aimed at reinforcing the call for continuity in governance.

Mkpa said the stakeholders believed the state had experienced significant progress in governance and expressed their determination to ensure that the approach they support is sustained beyond 2031.

According to him, the group would work towards mobilising support for Otti’s second-term bid while also encouraging voter education, particularly among residents at the grassroots.

The stakeholders described themselves as non-partisan elders of Abia North and urged residents not to lose what they regard as an opportunity to sustain the current direction of governance in the state.

They also called on relevant stakeholders to work together towards building grassroots awareness and participation ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group said its broader objective was to encourage continuity in governance and ensure that the development agenda it supports remains a subject of sustained public engagement beyond the current administration’s tenure.
