Abia Police Command Orders Seizure of Vehicles Without Number Plates

The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Danladi Isa, has ordered officers of the State Command to impound all vehicles operating without number plates as well as those with obscured or covered registration numbers.

He further directed that such vehicles be thoroughly investigated and that offenders be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The directive was issued on Thursday in Umuahia during a briefing with strategic officers of the command on the outcome of the recent conference between senior police officers and the Inspector-General of Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Addressing Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), commanders of the Visitation and Crime Response Units (VCRU), and Heads of Departments, CP Isa explained that the order originated from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The police commissioner urged officers to remain proactive in maintaining security across the state and instructed them to intensify efforts against criminal elements by targeting their hideouts and operational bases.

He warned against complacency, particularly during the rainy season, noting that criminals often take advantage of weather conditions to carry out unlawful activities.

While commending officers for their commitment to maintaining law and order, Isa encouraged them to sustain and improve on their efforts by remaining professional, respectful, and civil in the course of their duties.

He also stressed the importance of respecting human rights, including safeguarding the rights of suspects under investigation, and called for greater emphasis on intelligence-driven policing and investigations.

The commissioner further directed strategic officers to uphold a high level of discipline within their formations and continuously educate personnel on the proper use of firearms in line with Force Order 237.
