Haiti, Türkiye Eliminated From 2026 FIFA World Cup After Second Group-Stage Defeats

Haiti and Türkiye have been eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after losing their second group-stage matches on Friday.

In Philadelphia, United States, five-time champions Brazil secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Haiti in Group C, a result that mathematically ended Haiti’s chances of reaching the next round.

Brazil took the lead through Matheus Cunha, who tapped in from close range after goalkeeper parried Vinicius Jr’s effort. Cunha later doubled Brazil’s advantage with a powerful finish from inside the penalty area.

Vinicius Jr completed the scoring for Brazil deep into first-half stoppage time, sealing a convincing win for the South American side.

The defeat leaves Haiti at the bottom of Group C with no points from two matches and a goal difference of -4. Their final group fixture against Morocco on June 24 will have no impact on their qualification chances.

Brazil moved to the top of the group on goal difference ahead of Morocco.

Meanwhile, Türkiye’s World Cup campaign also came to an end after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Paraguay at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Group D.

Matias Galarza scored the fastest goal of the tournament so far, finding the net just 64 seconds into the match to hand Paraguay an early advantage.

Despite mounting pressure late in the game and Paraguay receiving a red card during stoppage time, Türkiye were unable to find an equaliser.

The result leaves Türkiye with two defeats from two matches and no points, confirming their elimination with one group game still remaining.

Paraguay, however, kept their qualification hopes alive and will head into their final group match against Australia with a chance of advancing.

The two eliminated teams made history in different ways at the tournament. Haiti returned to the World Cup for the first time since 1974, while Türkiye’s early exit came as a disappointment after entering the competition with high expectations.
