Dr. Chima Anyaso to Address Global Experts at University of Derby Law School Conference, Highlighting Bende’s Place on the World Stage

The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections, Dr. Desmond Chimaobi Anyaso, OFUJI, will on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, deliver a keynote address at the University of Derby Law School Annual Conference in Derby, England.

Dr. Anyaso was invited by the organisers of the conference, which focuses on contemporary developments in international economic law, to speak before a gathering of global experts exploring solutions to pressing societal challenges.

According to the organisers, the invitation was extended to Dr. Anyaso in recognition of his achievements, his efforts in creating opportunities for people, and his contributions toward societal advancement.

Founded in 1992, the University of Derby Law School has established itself as a respected institution of higher learning, recognised both nationally and internationally.

The institution received a Gold rating in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), placing it among universities in the United Kingdom acknowledged for outstanding student experience and graduate outcomes. It is also ranked second in the UK for employability, with 94 per cent of its graduates securing employment or continuing with further studies.

The annual conference is organised under the Centre for Justice, Law and Society, established in 2023 as a platform for academics, professionals, and experts to share research findings and explore solutions to societal issues.

Previous editions of the conference have attracted more than 120 participants from various sectors, including banking, compliance, financial intelligence units, international organisations, and academia.

The event is being held in partnership with Cardiff University, the University of Portsmouth, and the London Centre for Commercial and Financial Law.

This year’s conference will examine the role of law in addressing global challenges, strengthening institutional capacity for sustainable economic development, and exploring the connection between sustainability and environmental protection, particularly in developing countries.

These discussions align with the aspirations of communities like Bende, where issues of development, opportunity creation, and effective representation remain important concerns.

With his participation at the conference, Dr. Anyaso will represent not only himself but also his constituency, highlighting the capacity of people from Bende and Abia State to contribute to global conversations on law, development, and economic progress.

The engagement is expected to provide an opportunity for him to share ideas and perspectives on issues that affect communities while showcasing the intellectual contributions that can emerge from the constituency on an international platform.
