Enyimba FC of Aba suffered a 1-0 home defeat to newly promoted Inter Lagos on Sunday in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium.

Ezekiel Moses scored the only goal of the match in the 18th minute with a header to give Inter Lagos their first victory in the top flight.

The defeat extended Enyimba’s difficult start to the 2026/27 NPFL season, with the nine-time league champions still searching for their first point after three matches. The club had earlier lost to Niger Tornadoes and Doma United.

Inter Lagos held on to their lead despite pressure from the hosts, who came close to equalising in the second half when Ihemekwele’s effort struck the crossbar.

In the other Abia-related fixture, Abia Warriors secured a 2-0 away victory over Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Ikoi Etta opened the scoring for Abia Warriors in the 88th minute before former NPFL top scorer Emeka Obioma doubled the advantage in the 90th minute.

The result gave Abia Warriors their first win of the campaign, while Sporting Lagos suffered defeat in their first home game of the season. The official NPFL results also confirmed the 2-0 scoreline.

Enyimba are scheduled to face Sporting Lagos in their next NPFL fixture on Wednesday, September 23, while Abia Warriors will visit Barau FC on the same day.
