The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old suspected drug dealer, Prince Chukwudi Eguzouwa, during an operation in Ahiabubi, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of the state.

The command also said its operatives recovered bags containing substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, “Scottish Loud,” methamphetamine, cocaine and other hard drugs during the operation.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the raid was conducted in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Afolabi, and the Inspector-General of Police’s emphasis on intelligence-led policing.

Chinaka said operatives of the Violent Response Unit and Anti-Cultism Unit acted on actionable intelligence to raid suspected criminal hideouts in Ahiabubi on September 18, 2026.

She said Eguzouwa, a native of the community, was arrested during the operation and described by the command as a suspected drug dealer operating within the area.

The statement said, “Operatives of the Violent Response Unit and Anti-Cultism Unit, acting on actionable intelligence, on 18/09/2026, carried out a well-coordinated raid on criminal hideouts at Ahiabubi, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, where the above-mentioned suspect, known as a notorious drug dealer within the community, was apprehended.”

The police added that bags containing the suspected illicit substances were recovered during the raid.

“Upon conclusion of investigations, today, 22/09/2026, the suspect was arraigned in court and remanded in a correctional facility,” the command said.

Reacting to the arrest, CP Afolabi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and warned that criminal activities would not be tolerated in Abia State.

The Commissioner urged residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies to support efforts to tackle crime and protect communities.
