Presidential Media Tour Team Commends Abia Projects After Two-Day Inspection

The Renewed Hope Agenda Presidential Tour Team has expressed satisfaction with the various projects inspected during its two-day media tour of collaborative projects executed by the Federal Government and Abia State Government.

The team arrived in Abia State on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, as part of the tour aimed at assessing and showcasing development projects across the state.

Speaking during the inspection of the Onuimo-Abia Tower Road project, spokesperson of the presidential team and Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Hon. Sunday Dare, described the projects visited as impressive.

Dare said the projects were people-oriented and reflected the expectations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which prioritises initiatives that improve the welfare and living conditions of citizens.

The tour team, alongside Abia State media managers, commissioners, and other senior government officials, began the inspection with a visit to the Renewed Hope Agenda Housing Estate located along the Umuahia-Uzuakoli Road in Umuahia.

During the visit, the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Otumchere Otti, explained that the groundbreaking ceremony for the housing estate had been carried out by representatives of both the Federal and State Governments a few months earlier.

He stated that the state government provided the land for the project and had paid compensation to the landowners, adding that the state was awaiting further action from the Federal Government for the commencement of the 200 housing units designed for low and middle-income earners.

The team also inspected the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Akara-Alayi-Abiriba-Ohafia Road and made a brief stop at Ebem Ohafia to assess the Ohafia Power Station.

The Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Hon. Ikechukwu Monday, explained that Ohafia Community had experienced prolonged power challenges but noted that government intervention had commenced efforts to restore electricity supply to the area and its surroundings.

Another major point of inspection was the historic Omenuko Bridge, located along the Ozuabam-Arochukwu Federal Road, which had over the years become a source of concern due to its poor condition and the loss of lives recorded there.

The Commissioner for Works explained that Governor Alex Otti’s administration decided to intervene despite the road being a federal route, stressing that the priority was to prevent further accidents and save lives.

The team also inspected the Ozuabam-Ndi Okereke-Amuvi Road before proceeding to another Renewed Hope Agenda Housing Estate at Onuinya, Bende, an initiative being championed by the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu.

Hon. Sunday Dare described the housing project as one that was progressing well.

The inspection tour continued to the ultra-modern Nnenna Otti Bus Terminal in Umuahia, where the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Isaac Chimezie Ukaegbu, highlighted the facility’s operations and modern features.

He explained that the terminal was equipped with facilities including a control room where activities within the park are monitored, adding that the organised structure and modern design make it a significant transportation facility.

A member of the presidential team described the terminal as the first of its kind in Nigeria.

The tour concluded at the Onuimo-Umuahia Tower Road project, where Hon. Sunday Dare again expressed satisfaction with the quality and impact of the projects inspected during the visit.
