Popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM), on Wednesday night led a protest in Abuja over the worsening security situation in Nigeria.
VDM, who returned to the country from China around 4 p.m. the same day, mobilised members of the Ratel Movement to the Nigerian Air Force Base in the Federal Capital Territory, where they staged their demonstration.
In viral video clips circulating on social media, the protesters were seen chanting slogans such as “Tinubu must go, APC must go, bandits must go, terrorists must go” as they marched toward the Air Force Base.
The activist, who has been a vocal critic of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, has consistently spoken out about the rise in kidnappings and killings attributed to armed groups in different parts of the country.
While in China, VDM had described the administration as incompetent and called on Nigerians to vote out the president and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
He had also raised concerns over alleged plans by authorities to arrest him upon his return to Nigeria, a claim that generated tension among his supporters.
Ahead of his arrival, several members of the Ratel Movement had gathered at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to receive him.
